About Ward End Park
Ward End Park is a 54-acre Edwardian park in Ward End, east Birmingham, created in 1904 on open grassland and managed by Birmingham City Council. It holds a Green Flag Award and is a popular community green space. The park is centred on a fishing and boating lake, and also contains gardens, an amphitheatre and the 18th-century Ward End Park House. For families there are two separate playground areas, one near the Alum Rock Road side of the park and the other next to the lake, giving families a choice of play spaces within the grounds. Sporting facilities include a basketball court, a tennis court, large multi-sports practice courts and professional cricket nets, and there is a car park for visitors. The mix of water, gardens, sports provision and two play areas makes it a versatile local park for family visits in the east of the city.
