About Brookvale Park

Brookvale Park is based around what was once Lower Witton Reservoir, built to supply water to 19th-century Birmingham, and it opened as Erdington's first park in 1909. The lakes and surrounding parkland are now maintained as a leisure amenity by Birmingham City Council. The scenic, tranquil water is a haven for recreation, with sailing, canoeing and fishing all taking place on it, and a small body of land called Swan Island draws graceful swans and other wildfowl in abundance. For families there is a children's playground, plus tennis courts and a 2km walking and jogging route that circles the park. Around the lake lies a mix of grass and woodland, with a well-defined path spanning its full circumference, making it ideal for a stroll, a jog or a cycle. Entrances are off Park Road, George Road and Lakeside Walk. Brookvale combines a genuine local heritage as Erdington's original park with an attractive waterside setting and a dedicated play area for children.
