About Adderley Park

Adderley Park in the heart of Saltley, east Birmingham, has played an important community role for more than 150 years. It is named after Charles Adderley MP, who donated the eight to ten-acre site and opened it to the public on 30 August 1856, having privately managed it from 1855 to 1864. It is now managed by Birmingham City Council. The park serves all generations, with dog walking, walking and jogging, sport and children's play. For families there is a children's play area, and older children and teenagers have a basketball court. In June 2025 a new outdoor multi-sport space called a PlayZone was completed, part of a national programme to improve access to sport by providing high-quality, community-led spaces for activities such as football and cricket. The park's original entrance buildings once housed a library, reading room and museum, now demolished. Entrances are off Adderley Road, Arden Road and Hams Road, and Adderley Park railway station is about five minutes' walk away.
