About Broadfield Park
Broadfield Park is Rochdale's oldest public park and sits on a hillside right beside the town centre, next to the parish church and the old town hall. Laid out in Victorian times, it rises in terraces and is known for its restored bandstand, formal planting and the statue of local MP John Bright. Managed by Rochdale Borough Council, it holds a Green Flag Award recognising its quality as a well kept green space. For families the park has a children's play area on the upper level alongside an outdoor gym, so older children and adults can exercise while younger ones play nearby. There are also bowling greens, which close over winter for maintenance, a playing field used for football and cricket, and a wildlife area lower down the slopes. Good tarmac and paving paths make much of the upper park accessible, although routes toward Manchester Road and the pond are steeper. There is no onsite car park, but the park's central location means it is within easy walking distance of the town centre and transport links. Entry is free.
