About Evington Park

Evington Park is a large Victorian park of around 17.8 hectares close to the village of Evington in east Leicester. Managed by Leicester City Council and free to enter, it combines formal flower beds and open lawns with woodland areas and mature trees, and is popular for walking, tennis and family visits. For families, the park has a children's play area with natural play features, alongside ten pieces of free-access outdoor exercise equipment for adults and older children. Sporting facilities are extensive, with six floodlit tennis courts, two bowling greens and a pavilion, cricket squares and football pitches with changing rooms. At the heart of the park is Evington House, a Georgian-style building of Leicestershire white brick built in 1835-1836, which houses council parks offices and offers a room for hire and an information service, and the park hosts a wide-ranging programme of events across the year. Accessibility is good, with mostly level paths and step-free access and surfaced routes reaching most areas, including the playground and tennis courts. Car parking is available, making it a convenient family destination on the east side of the city.
