About Willenhall Memorial Park
Willenhall Memorial Park is an award-winning green space on Pinson Road in Willenhall, managed by Walsall Council and created out of former derelict mining land. It has become one of the borough's best family parks, centred on a children's play area that includes a wheelchair-friendly roundabout and a play bowl, alongside a seasonal splash pad that runs on weekends, school holidays and bank holidays through the summer from 11am to 5pm. Older children have a free-to-use skate park, a wheelchair-accessible multi-use games area and an outdoor gym with accessible equipment. The park also offers a bandstand with ramped access, a cricket pitch, football pitches, tennis courts, a fishing pool with an accessible platform and boardwalk, and an enclosed dog park. A community pavilion houses two wheelchair-accessible toilets. Access is excellent, with hard, tarmac-surfaced paths at least 1100mm wide and more than sixty benches placed around the park. Importantly for families, there is a large car park with three accessible bays and free on-site parking, which sets it apart from several other Walsall parks. A health walk group also meets here. With its blend of inclusive play, sport and green space, it rewards a longer visit.
