About Swithens Farm
Swithens Farm is a family-run farm park at Rothwell, sitting between Leeds and Wakefield and run by Swithens Farm Shop Ltd. It pairs a hands-on open farm with plenty of play, making it a reliable day out for families with young children. Animals include goats, sheep, cows and pigs alongside more unusual residents such as llamas, alpacas, guinea pigs and rabbits, and children can join hand-feeding with carrots as well as seasonal bottle-feeding of calves year-round and lambs and kid goats in spring and summer. A Paddock Walk takes visitors around the animals, while the play offer includes an indoor play barn aimed at toddlers up to around age 10, plus a Beach Playground, an Adventure Play Area and a Cars Zone outdoors. A farm cafe, butcher's and gift shop complete the site, and well-behaved dogs are welcome on leads. Admission is £11 for adults with under 1s free and the play barn charged at £3 per child; carers with a Max card pay a reduced £7. Booking is required and tickets are available online with a small fee.
