About Bruntwood Park
Bruntwood Park is a large public country park in Cheadle, managed by Stockport Council around Bruntwood Hall, a Gothic Revival mansion built in 1861. Between 1944 and 1959 the hall served as a town hall and its gardens were opened to the public; today the grounds are laid out for leisure and the hall has become a hotel and restaurant. The family play area is described as fully accessible and includes a pirate-ship sandpit, climbing and slide equipment for younger children, a zip wire, larger slides for older ones and a separate toddler area. Elsewhere in the park there is a lottery-funded BMX race track (free to use with protective clothing), an 18-hole pitch and putt course, two lakes and the Vinery Restaurant in the restored Victorian conservatory.
