About Alexandra Park
Alexandra Park in Edgeley (not to be confused with the larger Alexandra Park in Moss Side, Manchester) occupies about five hectares that were once the grounds of Edgeley House, home of the influential Sykes family from 1795. The adjacent Sykes reservoir originally served the family's bleachworks, established nearby in 1792, and today the water is used for fishing and wildlife. The park is owned and managed by Stockport Council and packs in a children's play area, a skate park, a tennis court, a basketball area and crown green bowling. A free car park sits beside the reservoir and the park is an easy walk from Stockport town centre.
