About Fog Lane Park
Fog Lane Park was bought by Manchester City Council in 1926 and is one of the city's earliest public parks. It is said to take its name from "Yorkshire Fog", a soft grass that still grows across the site. Alongside the children's play areas there is a skatepark, a multi-use games area, tennis courts, a bowling green and football pitches, set among two ponds, rose and sensory gardens and naturalised grassland. The park was the home ground of Manchester Corinthians L.F.C., a pioneering ladies' football club founded in 1949; a mural and blue plaque commemorating the club were installed in 2023.
