About Rosehill Victoria Park
Rosehill Victoria Park is one of Rotherham's older urban parks, opened in 1901 and named in honour of Queen Victoria following her death that year. The land, formerly the private grounds of Rosehill Hall, was bought by Rawmarsh Urban District Council and still retains historic features from its earlier life, including the hall itself and part of the heated kitchen-garden wall. At almost 14 hectares it offers plenty of open green space alongside modern family facilities. The children's play area, one of five Rotherham playgrounds improved under a recent council investment programme, includes swings and climbing equipment plus inclusive kit such as a spinning dish, inclusive spring and basket swing. Older visitors are well served by the Rosehill Skatepark, a concrete double bowl completed in 2010, along with newly installed tennis courts, outdoor gym equipment and a multi-use games area. A bandstand, cafe with toilets and on-site parking add to the appeal, and the Rotherham Model Engineers Society runs a miniature railway track within the grounds. The park is owned and maintained by Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council and is free to enter.
