About Hogganfield Park

Hogganfield Park is a 48-hectare Local Nature Reserve in north-east Glasgow, built around Hogganfield Loch, a large shallow glacial loch with a wooded island. Off Cumbernauld Road, it holds Green Flag status and forms part of the wider Seven Lochs Wetland Park. For families there is a children's play area in the south-east of the park, which opened in 2018 and boosted visitor numbers. A level tarmac path runs all the way around the loch, making it easy to walk with prams and wheelchairs, and there are sandy loch-edge beaches and picnic tables along the way. The loch is a haven for wildlife, with more than 100 bird species recorded and a viewing platform for bird-watching, plus an orienteering course. The park and its adjoining 18-hole golf course are maintained by Glasgow City Council. It is free to enter and open at all times, with individual facilities subject to their own hours.
