About Grange Gardens
Grange Gardens is a small, attractive Grade II listed Victorian park in the heart of Grangetown, managed by Cardiff Council and holding a Green Flag Award. First opened in 1895, it declined over the years before Heritage Lottery funding paid for a restoration completed in 2000, returning its formal Victorian character. Despite its compact size it packs in a lot for families: the children's play area, which caters for children up to around the age of 12, has slides, rope bridges and climbing frames along with a playhouse, swings and wobble boards, all set on a rubber safety surface to cushion falls. Other facilities include adult outdoor fitness equipment, a floodlit area with goal ends and basketball posts, and a bowling green with pavilion. The nearby Grange Pavilion community hub provides a cafe and public toilets. The park is free to enter and open 24 hours a day. There is no dedicated car park, so visitors use on-street parking in the surrounding Grangetown streets. Dogs are allowed in the wider park.
