About Pype Hayes Park

Pype Hayes Park is one of Birmingham's larger parks, covering more than 100 acres in Erdington and straddling the boundary between the Pype Hayes and Erdington wards. The land traces its history to the estate of Henry de Pipe, who held a notable portion of land around the village of Erdington in the 14th century; the Grade II listed Pype Hayes Hall, built on the grounds, received its listing in 1952. Today the park is managed by Birmingham City Council. Families will find a children's playground near the main entrance, alongside four tennis courts, with a car park serving both. The western section has a fish and duck pond that attracts mallards, Canada geese and mute swans, and fishing is available on the water. Beyond the play area there are ornamental gardens with bedding areas, extensive woodland across the northern half, and the National Cycle Network route 534 runs through the park. It is a spacious, varied green space combining formal gardens, wildlife-rich water and plenty of room to run around.
