About Highbury Park
Highbury Park is a 42-acre public park in Moseley, Birmingham, set around the historic Highbury Hall at the northern edge of the estate. The land formed part of the estate of Joseph Chamberlain, who bequeathed it to the people of Birmingham before his death in 1914; the park finally opened to the public in 1930 and is managed by Birmingham City Council. Its children's play area sits in the middle of the park and is notably inventive, incorporating a musical theme into the usual play equipment, including chimes with attached sticks for tapping out melodies. The wider park offers a picnic area, woodland walks and ranger-led events and activities, and in 2021 new woodland paths were built to improve access to Highbury Hall and other areas. There is a car park in the south-west corner of the park, near the junction of Shutlock Lane and Dad's Lane. The combination of mature parkland, the Victorian hall and a creative play area makes it a relaxed family destination in south Birmingham.
