About Royal Victoria Park

Royal Victoria Park opened in 1830 and sweeps below the Royal Crescent as Bath's best-known public park, managed by Bath & North East Somerset Council. Its enormous children's playground on the southern side, between the park and Upper Bristol Road, is one of the largest in the city. Children have climbing frames, swings including big safety, buddy and baby swings, giant slides, a carousel, a sand play area and a zip wire, plus an inclusive play unit designed for children using wheelchairs. The surrounding park offers botanical gardens, duck ponds, a bandstand, tennis courts, a skateboard park and designated BBQ areas across wide, gently sloping lawns. There is no charge for admission and the park is open at all times. A cafe near the play area is open 8am to 5pm throughout the year, and toilets are located in the play area and at Charlotte Street car park (20p). Parking is on-road pay and display, free for up to an hour, with Charlotte Street car park a short walk away. The park is easily reached on foot from the city centre.
