About Hedgemead Park
Hedgemead Park is a Victorian hillside park in the Walcot area of Bath, a short walk from the shops of Walcot Street and Milsom Street, and is managed by Bath & North East Somerset Council. Laid out in the late 19th century on a steep slope, it has a distinctive layered character, with picturesque paths winding past colourful flower islands, rose borders, mature trees and an attractive bandstand, and seating areas offering views out over the city. The children's playground gives families a compact but varied set of equipment, including a junior multi-play unit, a rocker horse, a roundabout, a seesaw and swings, set among open expanses of grass with plenty of room to relax. There is no charge for admission and the park is open throughout the year. There are no cafe or toilet facilities within the park itself. The majority of the park is wheelchair accessible, though the steep gradients and steps on parts of the site should be kept in mind. There is no dedicated car park; on-street pay and display is available on Lansdown Road and nearby streets, with the Walcot Street and Charlotte Street car parks the closest options.
