About Alexandra Park
Alexandra Park sits on top of Beechen Cliff, high above the city in the Widcombe area of Bath, and is managed by Bath & North East Somerset Council. Covering around 11 acres acquired by the city in 1896 and opened in 1902, it is best known for its panoramic views across Bath and the surrounding hills. Families come for the large fenced children's playground, aimed at children up to around 12, which has flat swings, a basket swing, an inclusive swing and a Tango swing, junior and senior multi-play units, an inclusive roundabout, a ground-level trampoline, an OXO games panel, rocker animals and table tennis, alongside a flat scooter path and space for boules. Elsewhere the park has a bowling green, a petanque terrain and an outdoor table tennis table, with benches for parents and spring bulb displays. There is no charge for admission and the park is open throughout the year. Toilets on site are pay to use, and there is no cafe. A tarmac path circles the park and most areas are wheelchair accessible, though the paths are sloped. The park can be reached on foot via the steps known as Jacob's Ladder, or by Shakespeare Avenue, where limited pay-to-use parking is available.
