About Sutcliffe Park Playground
Sutcliffe Park is a 16.7-hectare (41-acre) park in Eltham, in the Royal Borough of Greenwich, opened in 1937 and re-landscaped in 2003 to restore the River Quaggy and create wetlands and lakes. It is a Green Flag Award-winning site and a designated local nature reserve, rich in wildlife including dragonflies, damselflies, grey herons, little egrets, kingfishers and reed warblers. Families visit for the children's playground, which sits mainly on the south side of the park alongside an athletics track run by GLL, an outdoor gym and outdoor table tennis. There is a car park and bicycle locking facilities, and the park has three running routes and hosts a weekly parkrun. Access is wheelchair-friendly, with two RADAR gates at Tudway Road in the north-east corner and on Eltham Road along the southern perimeter. The park is freely accessible and managed by the Royal Borough of Greenwich. Buses serve Eltham Road, and Kidbrooke railway station is nearby. Note that some areas may occasionally close for scheduled boardwalk and platform refurbishment works.
