About Clissold Park Playground
Clissold Park is a much-loved 22.57-hectare (55.8-acre) community park in Stoke Newington, within the London Borough of Hackney, opened in 1889 around the 18th-century Clissold House. Managed by Hackney Council, it has held a Green Flag award and sits at the heart of local community life. Families come for the large, well-equipped children's playground, which caters for a wide range of ages, and for the seasonal splash pad (paddling pool) that opens in the warmer months. The park is also known for its animal enclosure, home to a small herd of fallow deer and goats, an aviary, a butterfly dome and two small lakes with waterfowl. Sports and recreation facilities include tennis courts, a bowling green and a skatepark bowl. The Grade II listed Clissold House at the centre of the park operates as a café and events venue, with toilets available. The park is bounded by Green Lanes, Stoke Newington Church Street, Queen Elizabeth's Walk and Greenway Close. Dogs are welcome in much of the park but excluded from the playground; visitors should follow Hackney Council's dog rules.
