About Highbury Fields Playground

Highbury Fields is the largest open space in the London Borough of Islington, covering about 11.75 hectares (29 acres) and stretching north from Highbury Corner. The park is bordered by handsome Georgian and Victorian terraces and is managed by Islington Council, so it is free and open to the public year round. Families come for the well-equipped children's playground, which includes a large sand pit, a water play feature, an adventure play structure that encourages climbing, swinging and balancing, and on-site toilets. The historic bandstand hosts a One O'Clock Club, a friendly session for under-fives and their parents and carers. Elsewhere in the park you will find the Oasis Cafe, an enclosed dog-free picnic area, a deadwood sculpture and a 1905 Boer War memorial by sculptor Bertram Mackennal. The wider site also has tennis courts, and Highbury Pool sits nearby. Highbury and Islington station is the closest transport link, making the park easy to reach on foot or by public transport from across north London. It is a popular green route towards the Emirates Stadium.
