About Eastrop Park

Eastrop Park is a Green Flag riverside park on the water meadows of the River Loddon, built in the early 1970s as part of Basingstoke's New Town development and opened in 1972. It is a short walk from the town centre, bus and rail stations and has held Green Flag status for many years. The children's play area is open all year with a variety of equipment for a range of ages and abilities, alongside a popular climbing web. In the warmer months the park's paddling pool is a big draw for families, though it closes for the autumn and winter and is due to reopen in spring 2027. There is plenty more to do, with a boating lake and model boat lake, crazy golf, a trim trail, a tree trail, a performance canopy and a wildlife area to explore. The weather-dependent Boathouse Cafe serves refreshments on fine days through the main season. A toilet block next to the boating lake includes an accessible facility, and there is free parking at two car parks reached via Eastrop Way, with disabled bays and electric vehicle chargepoints. One car park is locked overnight. The park is free to enter.
