About Longbarn Lane Recreation Ground
Longbarn Lane Recreation Ground is a free, public green space of roughly 3.29 hectares on Longbarn Lane in the Whitley area of south Reading, managed by Reading Borough Council. It is an active, all-ages recreation ground combining open grass with a well-equipped set of facilities. At its centre is a children's play area for younger visitors, while older children and teenagers are well served by a refurbished BMX track that is suitable for bikes, roller skates, scooters and skateboards. The ground also has a new outdoor gym, a hard-surfaced pitch and space for football, so it works equally well for casual kickabouts and for fitness. Recent improvements completed in 2020/21 included refurbishing the BMX track and installing the outdoor gym, part of Reading Borough Council's wider programme of investment in play and recreation across the borough. On-site facilities include parking, seating, litter bins and dog bins, with dogs welcome.
