About Dartmouth Park

Dartmouth Park is a Grade II listed Victorian park about a kilometre east of West Bromwich town centre, managed by Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council. It was designed in 1876 by John Maclean to make the most of the views across the Sandwell Valley and opened in 1878, making it one of the oldest municipal parks in the borough. A six-million-pound restoration completed in 2018, supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund and the Big Lottery Fund, returned much of the park's Victorian character while modernising facilities for families. Today the park offers a children's play area alongside ornamental lakes, outdoor gym equipment, colourful floral displays and a sensory garden. At its heart is a restored community pavilion with a viewing tower that takes in the surrounding valley. The combination of heritage landscape, water features and open green space makes Dartmouth Park a popular spot for families, dog walkers and anyone wanting a short escape close to the town centre. The park is open to the public at all times and is free to enter, with parking nearby.
