About Sandwell Valley Country Park

Sandwell Valley Country Park is a vast 1,800-acre expanse of countryside in the heart of the West Midlands, just a mile from West Bromwich town centre and managed by Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council. Its free adventure playground is one of the best in the borough, built for children roughly five to thirteen years old and packed with features: climbing nets, a rope bridge, an eight-metre-high tower with a slide, swings, a double zip wire, a dragon roundabout, a suspension bridge, a play tractor and trailer, and timber sculptures, alongside a picnic area and a sandpit for younger ones. Beyond the playground, the country park offers miles of routes for walking, cycling and horse riding, plus tennis courts and football pitches. Forge Mill Farm sits within the valley as a working farm, with a small-animal area, farm shop, farm trail, a play barn, a cafe and seasonal events, and the neighbouring RSPB reserve adds wetland birdwatching. With so much open green space, water and wildlife, Sandwell Valley is a full day out for families and is open every day, free to use.
