About Queen's Park

Queen's Park is a historic Victorian park in Heywood, designated Grade II on the Register of Historic Parks and Gardens in 2001 and holding a Green Flag Award under the care of Rochdale Borough Council. Centred on a picturesque lake with tranquil gardens, it is one of the borough's best equipped family parks. There are two playgrounds, including a separate toddlers' play area set apart from the main junior and adventure play zone, which makes it easy for families with children of different ages. Most of the play equipment is wheelchair accessible, with disability access swings and an accessible roundabout. For older children there is an activity centre with a BMX track, while sports facilities include a tennis court and a crown green bowling green with its pavilion. The on-site Queen's Park Cafe provides refreshments, and there are accessible toilets beside the Lodge House at the main entrance and at the cafe. A free car park on Queen's Park Road includes several accessible bays. Flat tarmac paths serve the upper park, cafe and play areas, with steeper routes leading down to the lake and countryside sections. Guide dogs are welcome. The park is free to enter.
