About Chelsea Park
Chelsea Park is a small, tucked-away park in the Nether Edge area of Sheffield, well regarded locally as a quieter alternative to the city's larger, busier parks. It was originally laid out in 1852 as the private gardens of Brincliffe Towers and was given to the people of Sheffield in 1925, and it is now one of the council's local parks. The children's playground is a particular draw, with a good-sized play area that suits a range of ages but is especially popular with younger children; equipment includes two slides, a climbing frame, baby swings and a large round swing. Beyond the play area the surrounding park offers a lovely setting for a stroll, and in winter the open slopes become a favourite local spot for sledging. The combination of mature Victorian planting, a relaxed atmosphere and a well-maintained playground makes Chelsea Park a pleasant everyday space for Nether Edge families. It is supported by the Friends of Chelsea Park and, as a Sheffield City Council park, is free to visit.
