About Kingfisher Country Park
Kingfisher Country Park is a large linear country park in east Birmingham, opened in July 2004 to care for an 11km stretch of the River Cole valley and improve it for both people and wildlife. The Birmingham City Council section of the park forms a green corridor of meadows, woodland and wetlands, offering a serene urban escape close to the city. Families can enjoy children's play areas within the park, together with walking and cycling trails that follow the river, picnic spots and multi-sport courts, with plenty of open room for children to play. The varied habitats, from ancient woodland and flowery meadows to wetland, make it a rewarding place for spotting wildlife along the way. The park extends across east Birmingham and continues into the neighbouring borough of Solihull, but the facilities covered here are within the Birmingham City Council managed area along the River Cole. With its combination of play provision, long traffic-free trails and rich natural landscapes, Kingfisher Country Park is one of the larger and more natural green spaces in east Birmingham.
