About Selly Park Recreation Ground
Selly Park Recreation Ground is a public park on Raddlebarn Road in Selly Park, south Birmingham, owned and operated by Birmingham City Council and supported by the Friends of Muntz Park and Selly Park Rec. The ground has a well-equipped children's play area for younger visitors and its own outdoor gym, which is popular with the many students living in the surrounding area. Sport is a major feature: there are full-sized and junior grass football pitches available for hire, with changing rooms, showers and toilets on site, and a free car park with around 30 spaces. The park came into community management in 2006, and since then volunteers have added natural features including a daffodil labyrinth planted with 5,000 bulbs, followed by wildflower meadows and new trees, enriching the open green space. The result is a green space that balances active sports provision with family play and quieter wildlife-friendly planting. Its central Selly Park location and free parking make it an easy, well-used local park for play, exercise and organised sport.
