About Cotteridge Park
Cotteridge Park is a public park of about 22 acres in Cotteridge, managed by Birmingham City Council and supported by the Friends of Cotteridge Park, a registered charity established in 1997 whose volunteers carry out additional activities and work beyond the council contract. The land was accrued through a series of purchases made by the former Kings Norton Urban District Council between February 1905 and December 1909, and was transferred to Birmingham Corporation in 1911. The children's playground is maintained by Birmingham City Council, and the park also has a small skate park that is well suited to beginners, whether for skateboarding, bikes or scooters. There are courts that are free to use on a first come, first served basis, with a few weekly slots set aside for classes such as walking netball and tai chi. Alongside these facilities there is plenty of open green space for play, picnics and community events, which the Friends group runs throughout the year. Cotteridge Park is a lively, well-cared-for neighbourhood park in south Birmingham.
