About Lochee Park
Lochee Park is a well-used green space in the Lochee district of west Dundee, given to the community in 1890 by the Cox Brothers, the jute manufacturers who built much of the area, and it remains one of the city's venues for the annual fireworks display. Covering around 25 acres of mostly flat open ground, it is designed for active recreation, with sports pitches, a bowling green and a pavilion alongside its family facilities. The fenced children's play area offers a good spread of equipment, including junior, cradle, rope and basket swings, a multiplay unit with slides, a climbing pyramid, a dragonfly seesaw, spring rockers and play panels, plus an inclusive wheelchair-accessible roundabout and a dish roundabout, all laid on wetpour and bark surfacing with gated access and a youth shelter nearby. An adjacent outdoor gym with a high pulley, stepper, spinning bike, elliptical trainer and pendulum-and-twister station extends the active offer for teenagers and adults. Toilets are available at the park pavilion, there is parking on site, and the park is free to enter and open year-round. Dogs are welcome in the wider park but not inside the fenced play area.
