About Dudhope Park

Dudhope Park was Dundee's first publicly funded park, opened in September 1895 after the town council bought the grounds for the people of the city, and it still sits on a south-facing slope below the historic Dudhope Castle with fine views across Dundee. Close to the city centre, it packs a lot of active recreation into its grounds. The fenced children's play area is one of the better-equipped in the city, with cradle, junior and tyre swings, two multiplay units, two slides, four different roundabouts (including a dizzy spinner, web climber and zigzag twister), a climbing frame, seesaw, elephant spring rockers, balance beams, play panels and a buddy board, laid out on bark surfacing with gated access. Alongside the playground there is a concrete skatepark, a multi-use games area for 5-a-side football and basketball, and three tennis courts, making it popular with older children and teenagers too. Toilets are available near the MUGA on restricted hours, there is parking with disabled spaces, and the park is free and open year-round. Dogs are welcome in the wider park but not inside the fenced play area.
