About Pickering Park

Pickering Park is a well-loved free public park about three miles west of Hull city centre, on Pickering Road, and is managed by Hull City Council. Its children's play area contains a range of equipment for children of all ages, including swings, a spinning bowl, a multi-play activity centre, a spring ride and a wooden snail. A big summer attraction is the seasonal water play area, which opens daily from 10am to 5pm during the school summer holidays; the paddling pool has been undergoing a full refurbishment with new jets, water features and an upgraded filtration system. One of the park's most distinctive features is its aviary, home to meerkats as well as a variety of birds, which is free to look around. There is also a fishing lake (a pass is required), an outdoor gym and calisthenics zone, an activity trail, a bike track and a bandstand surrounded by picnic benches, along with memorials including a Falklands bench and the Trawlermen's memorial garden. A toilet block next to the paddling pool has male, female, child and disabled toilets open daily, with baby changing in the accessible toilet. Only assistance dogs are welcome in the play area.
