About Costello Playing Fields

Costello Playing Fields is a large free open space in west Hull, next to Costello Stadium, managed by Hull City Council. Alongside its sports pitches it is home to the Peter Pan children's play area, set near a small nature pond, which has a range of equipment for children and young people including an activity centre, a skyrail, climbing frames, swings and a spring ride. The wider site is one of the busiest recreational grounds in west Hull, with Hull's newest outdoor tennis facility of four floodlit courts available all year round, a 3G multi-use games area with changing facilities, and marked grass pitches used for football, rugby, cricket, rounders and American football. The Peter Pan name also lives on through the popular Peter Pan parkrun, held on Saturday mornings, and a junior parkrun for children on Sunday mornings. The nature pond adds a bit of wildlife interest next to the playground. Only assistance dogs are welcome in the play area itself. Because the site is an open playing field, it is freely accessible rather than fenced and gated, making it an easy spot for a kickabout and a play session.
