About Victoria Park

Victoria Park is a good-sized park of around six hectares immediately north of the Stonehouse area of Plymouth, in the Millbridge neighbourhood. At its heart is a large playground with plenty for children of different ages, including a trampoline, ball court, climbing frames, a tyre swing, gym equipment, talk tubes, a sound wheel and funky litter bins, alongside a chess and draughts board bench. The park places a strong emphasis on inclusive play, with a wheelchair see-saw, a wheelchair-accessible roundabout and a DDA swing seat, and all paths are tarmac and flat so that pram and wheelchair users can reach every part of the park. Beyond the playground there is a multi-use games area made up of a full-size lined basketball court and a five-a-side football pitch enclosed by a gated fence, plus large areas of flat grassland that are ideal for ball games and informal play. The site has historic interest too, having been used by American soldiers during the Second World War, and it now features a steel loop sculpture known as Moor. The park is open 24 hours a day, is free to use, and is managed by Plymouth City Council.
