About Central Park
Central Park is Plymouth's largest park, lying about a mile north of the city centre and railway station. Following a nine-million-pound redevelopment, its children's play space was rebuilt in timber in 2018 around a birds, bees and butterflies theme. The playground mixes natural play features with climbing frames and traditional equipment, and has been fitted with trampolines, hammocks and a double zip wire, with sand and water play spread across the area so it suits children of all ages and abilities. The surrounding park offers broad meadows, woodland and playing fields, making it a popular spot for family days out, picnics and dog walks. The Meadow Cafe sits beside the clock tower at the heart of the park and provides refreshments seven days a week, along with free public toilets during opening hours. Free car parking is available on site and regular bus services link the park to the city centre. The park is open 24 hours a day and is free to enter, and it is owned and managed by Plymouth City Council. Dogs are welcome across the wider park but are excluded from the enclosed play area and sports facilities.
