About Heaton Moor Park
Heaton Moor Park opened on 17 July 1897 to mark Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee, on land gifted by local landowner Lord Egerton in 1894, and its Victorian layout survives largely unchanged. It is managed by Stockport Council together with the Friends of Heaton Moor Park, a volunteer group formed in 1997 that secured a Green Flag Award in 2011 and has funded much of what families use today — a toddlers' play area, an all-weather tennis court, a ball play area, new railings and gates, benches and a mini woodland walk. There is no car park inside the park, but Heaton Chapel station is about five minutes' walk away.
