About Prestonfield Park
Prestonfield Park is a free, public park in the Prestonfield area of south Edinburgh, on Prestonfield Road, managed by the City of Edinburgh Council. It is a small, intimate park, enclosed by a privet hedge, and it is especially popular with young children and their parents thanks to its play area. The children's play area, in the south-west corner, is a fairly well-stocked space aimed at toddlers and juniors, and it is the park's biggest draw for families. Around it the park offers picnic benches, a small grassy kick-about area and a wildflower area, with tarred pathways lined by lighting columns running through the grounds, and there is a community bowling green on site. The park was awarded a Green Flag in 2012 in recognition of its quality as a greenspace. Compact and welcoming, Prestonfield Park suits families with younger children who want a safe, enclosed space close to home, within easy reach of the Prestonfield and Craigmillar areas of the city. Its combination of a good play area, picnic space and a bowling green in a small footprint makes it a valued local park for the south of Edinburgh.
