About Gosforth Central Park
Gosforth Central Park is a small, well-kept public park in the heart of Gosforth, north of Newcastle city centre. Owned by Newcastle City Council and operated by Urban Green Newcastle, it has provided play facilities since 1937. The popular play area is aimed at under 14s and features swings, slides and climbing units. Around the playground there is plenty to enjoy: one full basketball court, two tennis courts, table tennis and a men's bowling club, plus large informal grassed areas that are great for ball games, picnics and dog walking. For nature lovers there is a wildflower meadow and a wildlife pond, and the formal flowerbeds are planted with ornamental roses. There is no cafe inside the park, but the many cafes and restaurants on Gosforth High Street are a short walk away, as are the toilets and nearest car park at Gosforth Shopping Centre. A good network of footpaths runs through the park and is suitable for prams or wheelchairs. The park is free to enter and well placed for families living in or visiting Gosforth.
