About Paddy Freeman's Park
Paddy Freeman's Park is one of the five Ouseburn parks in High Heaton, owned by Newcastle City Council and managed by Urban Green Newcastle. It is best known for its boating lake, but it is also a firm favourite with families thanks to its play provision: a large play area popular with younger and older children, plus a separate area for younger children. Around the playgrounds there is a bowling green, two tennis courts, a full-size football pitch, basketball and table tennis. Two picnic areas, some with accessible benches suitable for wheelchairs, make it easy to spend a whole afternoon here, and the park is mainly grassed with shrubs and woodland. Ciccarellis ice cream parlour serves award-winning gelato, coffee and refreshments, and toilets are available in the cafe. An excellent network of footpaths runs through the park and is suitable for prams or wheelchairs. There is a small pay and display car park within the park, accessed from Freeman Road. The park itself is free to enter, and it connects easily to neighbouring Jesmond Dene and Heaton Park.
