About Elder Park
Elder Park is a historic public park of about 37 acres in Govan, on the south bank of the Clyde. It was gifted to the people of Govan in 1885 by Isabella Elder in memory of her husband John Elder, the pioneering shipbuilder, and statues of both stand in the park. For families it has a children's play area with swings, slides and climbing frames, set among landscaped gardens and paths. There is a boating pond with ducks and seasonal wildlife, a bowling green, and the park hosts a junior parkrun. Elder Park Library, a notable Victorian building, sits within the grounds. The park is operated by Glasgow City Council and is open all year round. It is free to enter, with individual facilities subject to their own hours.
