About Festival Park
Festival Park sits on Govan Road beside the River Clyde, on part of the former 1988 Glasgow Garden Festival site near the Glasgow Science Centre. Managed by Glasgow City Council, it is a compact riverside green space with a children's play area that pairs easily with a visit to the nearby science centre. A flat riverside path runs through the area, making it good for scooting and buggies between the Science Centre and the Riverside Museum across the water. The park recently received significant investment: the council's contractor carried out works over the winter to build new paths and a new entrance, funded through the council's place fund programme with additional money from the feminist action fund, with the new entrance now open to all. The park is also among the sites Glasgow City Council has consulted on for play park improvements. With its open grassland, river views and proximity to two of the city's major family attractions, Festival Park is a handy stop for a short play-and-walk outing on the Clyde's south bank.
