About Tang Hall Community Centre Play Area
Tang Hall Community Centre Play Area is a free, council-run play space on Fifth Avenue in the Tang Hall area on the eastern side of York, managed by City of York Council and sitting in the Heworth ward. The site is made up of two areas, one fenced and one open-access, which together give families flexibility: the enclosed section is reassuring for younger children while the open part suits those who want more room. There are eight play units in total, with equipment aimed at toddlers up to around eleven years old, so it works well for families with children of mixed ages. Visitor facilities are better than at many small neighbourhood playgrounds: there are three benches for carers to sit on, a bin, and an on-site toilet linked to the adjoining community centre. Parking is available in a small car park on site, and for longer stays the nearest council car park is East Parade, roughly a fifteen-minute walk away. It is open at all times and free to use. The play area's position next to Tang Hall Community Centre makes it a natural focal point for the local community and a practical, no-cost option for everyday play in this part of York.
