About Hull Road Park

Hull Road Park is a varied, traditional 25-acre park in Tang Hall, about a mile from York city centre, running alongside Osbaldwick Beck. Opened in 1927, it combines large areas of semi-natural woodland and riverside walks with well-used sports and play facilities. Families will find two play areas with equipment including swings, giving younger and older children space to enjoy. Sport is well catered for, with two recreational-standard tennis courts that are free to use, a basketball court and a bowling green. A small, dog-friendly cafe with friendly staff offers refreshments, and bike racks are dotted throughout the park, with the No. 6 bus between Clifton Moor and Heslington stopping opposite. In recent years the beck has benefited from ecological restoration, and by 2024 the endangered water vole had returned to the waterway, while University of York students created a bog garden alongside it in 2023. The park is accessible, with a wheelchair-accessible entrance and wheelchair-accessible parking. Entry is free throughout, making Hull Road Park a well-rounded green space for play, sport and nature on the east side of the city.
