About Gheluvelt Park
Gheluvelt Park is a memorial park built in honour of those lost in the First World War. Straddling Barbourne Brook, it has two distinct areas: a formal park to the east and an informal conservation area to the west, next to the River Severn. The playground has separate areas for younger and older children, so little ones can play safely while older children can be more adventurous; seating is provided for parents, and the multi-age facility uses modern play technology and floor surfaces. Alongside it, the popular Gheluvelt Splashpad is a free water-play feature for toddlers to early teens, open daily through the summer. Families are well served: toilets, an accessible toilet and baby-changing facilities are at the Sons of Rest pavilion near the Splashpad, which is also home to Little Al's Kitchen cafe, while the historic Pump House nearby has been restored by Kyndfolk into a cafe and neighbourhood hub. There are two tennis courts, a bandstand with summer performances, a perimeter outdoor gym circuit and two free-to-use outdoor table tennis tables. The park has a free 37-space car park on Waterworks Road and is a Green Flag Award winner. Entry is free.
