About Sankey Valley Park
Sankey Valley Park is a linear green space managed by Warrington Borough Council, stretching for over 1.5 miles between Sankey Bridges in the south and Callands in the north, following the course of Sankey Brook and the disused Sankey Canal. For families there are two play spaces: a fenced children's play area beyond the Wellfield Street entrance, set on grass with soft matting around the equipment, and a larger adventure play area about 500m beyond the car park entrance, laid on grass and tarmac with soft matting. The central section is family-focused, with a maze and lawned areas as well. An asphalt footpath runs the full length of the park, branching into narrower trails through mature woodland and a wetland nature reserve, making it popular with walkers and cyclists. Anglers fish at designated spots by arrangement with local clubs, and canoeing is permitted on the Sankey Canal. With its combination of play areas, open lawns, a maze and extensive canal-side walking and cycling, Sankey Valley Park is a free, versatile destination for a family day out in western Warrington.
