About Palfrey Park

Palfrey Park is an attractive Green Flag award-winning park in the Palfrey area of Walsall, managed by Walsall Council and supported by an active Friends of Palfrey Park group. Families come for the children's play area, which is complemented by an outdoor gym and a multi-use games area fitted with wheelchair-accessible gates. The park also has a traditional bandstand, tennis courts bookable through the lawn tennis association, and football pitches available for hire, with a pavilion on site and an informal conservation area that encourages local wildlife. Accessibility is a strong point: the hard, tarmac-surfaced paths are at least 1100mm wide, with many sections 1500 to 2000mm wide, and the wide access gates suit wheelchair users, people with mobility impairments and pushchairs. There is a wheelchair-accessible toilet measuring at least 2.2 by 1.5 metres, with an outward-opening door, corner layout, grab rails and a higher-level pan, while the pavilion doors are wide enough for wheelchair access. Plenty of benches are placed for rest along the way. There is no car park on site, so visitors use nearby streets. Palfrey Park makes a pleasant, well-kept neighbourhood park for a family visit.
