About Clyne Gardens
Clyne Gardens is a celebrated botanical garden bordered by Mumbles Road and Mayals Road in the Blackpill and Mayals area of Swansea, overlooking Swansea Bay and managed by Swansea Council. It is free to enter and famous for its national rhododendron and azalea collections, its spring carpets of bluebells and wild garlic, massive specimen plants and streams, making it a favourite for families and gardeners alike. Among the planting there is a community play area, refreshed with help from a specialist play contractor, featuring a Rapunzel-style climbing tower, timber bridges and natural-play features, along with plenty of open space to run around and streams where children can explore. There are several picnic areas dotted through the gardens. Because the gardens sit right beside Blackpill, a visit combines easily with the Blackpill Lido play area and paddling pool a short walk away. Entry is free, with a car park off Mill Lane at Blackpill. The hillside site has sloping paths and some steeper sections, so it is worth choosing routes carefully with a pushchair, but the overall setting is one of the most beautiful green spaces in Swansea.
