About Burgess Park Playground
Burgess Park is the largest park in the London Borough of Southwark, covering around 56 hectares in the area between Camberwell, Walworth and Peckham. It was created gradually between the 1950s and 1980s on land cleared after wartime damage. The park has more than one play area for families. Colourful, modern play and climbing equipment sits in front of the Stomping Ground at Chumleigh Gardens, with separate areas for children under and over five. The Woodland Play area is aimed at children over five who want a more adventurous experience, featuring wooden geometric structures to climb, bridges, balance ropes, net tunnels, slides, climbing walls and nets. The wider park includes a lake, sports facilities and open green space, and there is also an adventure playground on the edge of the park run by a local charity.
