About Weston Shore

Weston Shore sits on the east side of Southampton, running alongside the Solent from Abbey Hill down to the mouth of the River Itchen at Woolston, and is managed by Southampton City Council. It is a long shingle beach backed by a level promenade, well known locally for its wide, open views across the water, making it one of the best spots in the city to watch cruise ships, ferries and container vessels passing to and from Southampton Water. Along the pebble beach there is a children's play area with equipment such as swings, slides and climbing frames, together with several distinctive Art Deco seating shelters and benches where families can rest and take in the view. There is a pitch 'n' putt course for a casual game, and an accessible macadam path runs the length of the beach, suiting pushchairs, wheelchairs and scooters. A cafe and parking are available on site, and public toilets are nearby at the end of Weston Lane. The flat promenade makes it a popular family destination for scooting and walking as well as play. Entry to the shore and the use of the play area are free.
